Turkish Defence Forces killed lone vessel hijacker after 12 hours of hostage situation. Decision was taken by Governor Huseyin Avni Mutlu around 05:35 local time.
Afterwards, boarding group go tinto the vessel and killed one aggressor. He was to be around 28 – 30 years old. He had electric device with cables and button. Experts started analyzing that device. Earlier reports told about 5 hijackers armed in explosives. Hijacker did not tell his demandings apart from providing fuel and food, however former reports show that he was member of PKK which if fighting for authonomy in South – East Turkey. Vessel hijack is an evidence of changing their tactics. PKK used to attack defense forces situated in Kurdistan. Islam militiants and Kurdish lefists are still active in the region of Turkey.
