The similar incident had taken place in 2007 in Turkey on 28-th of January. One armed man hijacked the ferry with 80 people on board in Dardanele Strait. The gunman has been threating that he would have destroyed the vessel as a protest against pro - Armenian attitude which appeared in Turkey after a famous journalist – Armenian by origin Hrant Dink assassination. It turned out that the hijacker was a former sergeant of Turkish army. After two hours he surrendered. |
